Care notes

Needs: Calm, heavily planted, shaded tank with gentle flow. One male per tank. Quarantine new fish: dwarf gourami iridovirus (DGIV) is common in trade stock, infectious, untreatable and can spread to other species.

Group: Not a schooling fish. SF: best in a male-female pair; do not keep a group; two males is a recipe for disaster unless the tank is very large. group_min 1 = a single male (females are rarely sold); a pair needs at least the 60 cm tank.

Temperament: semi-aggressive toward other fish, aggressive toward its own kind. Lives in the top of the tank.
